總評 Commentary
The third rhapsody is the fiercest, its imagery drawn from the martial mythology of the thunder-court: the Thunder Lord riding his fire-beast, the Lightning Mother flinging her “golden serpents,” the din likened to splitting earth and crumbling mountains. Its prose coda opens the moral dimension the rain-contest has kept implicit — Wukong's charge to Marshal Deng to strike dead corrupt officials and unfilial sons “as a warning to all” frames the thunder as an instrument of Heaven's justice, not mere spectacle. The coda also carries the graph 諕 in its “frighten” sense (= 嚇), read xià and settled so corpus-wide in this chapter.
