雷電俱息 Thunder and Lightning Stilled
行者道:「既如此,且都住了,同候老孫行事。」果然雷也不鳴,電也不灼。行者道:「既如此,且都住了,同候老孙行事。」果然雷也不鸣,电也不灼。
逐句解 Line by line
行者道:「既如此,且都住了,同候老孫行事。」
行者道:「既如此,且都住了,同候老孙行事。」
Pilgrim said, “If that is so, then all of you hold off, and wait together while old Sun does the business.”
且都住了: 都 = dōu. 同候 “to wait together.” 行事: 行 = xíng.
果然雷也不鳴,電也不灼。
果然雷也不鸣,电也不灼。
And sure enough the thunder did not peal, and the lightning did not flash.
雷也不鳴: 不 = bù before 鳴 (2nd tone). 灼 (zhuó) “to flash, glare.”
With the thunder-gods too now bound to his command, Wukong has quietly commandeered every celestial office the immortal's rite depends on. The stilled sky — no thunder, no lightning — completes the silent takeover, and turns the remaining question from whether the Daoist can make rain to when the Great Sage will choose to.
