Hearing this, the Daoists all bowed their heads to the ground and knocked them, saying, “We beg the Venerable to regard your disciples' reverent hearts and graciously grant us a little.

總評 Commentary

The Daoists bargain earnestly, pledging to spread the faith and sway the king in exchange for a few drops — the transactional piety the arc satirizes. Their word 謝恩 (“to thank for imperial grace”) keeps up the fiction that a god sits before them, and with the call for vessels the trap is baited.
