總評 Commentary
The second contest-rhapsody answers the second point of the staff. Shorter and more lyrical than the wind 賦, the cloud rhapsody works by accumulation — billowing, spreading, darkening — until the world is returned, in its closing couplet, to the undivided 混沌 of before creation, a deliberate echo of the novel's opening poem. The onomatopoeic 骨都都 (the clouds “billowing up”) takes 都 = dū, the sound-reading established for the 鑼鼓經 percussion-notation back in ch.40 rather than the everyday dōu.
