The Great Sage Numbers His Crimes; the Alligator Begs for Life

Commentary
Pilgrim numbers the fiend's offenses — usurpation, violence, deceit — and the alligator-dragon, chained, kowtows and pleads, offering to fetch the captives himself. Moang warns against trusting so cunning a creature, and Sha Monk, who knows the water-palace, offers to go instead.
