The Vase Reclaims the Sea; a Bow at Every Step

Commentary
Guanyin's vase drinking back its ocean is an emblem of her 甘露 (amrita) power, and 一步一拜 — a full prostration at every step — casts the subjugation as penitential pilgrimage. The line quietly completes the boy's transformation into 善財童子 (Sudhana), grafting the Huayan/Gaṇḍavyūha frame of the 五十三參 onto the novel's own economy of conversion.
