簡帖為證 點兵擒鼉
The Note as Evidence; Troops Mustered to Take the Alligator
行者聞言，笑道：「你妹妹有幾個妹丈？」敖順道：「只嫁得一個妹丈，乃涇河龍王。向年以此被斬，舍妹孀居於此，前年疾故了。」行者道：「一夫一妻，如何生此幾個雜種？」敖順道：「此正謂『龍生九種，九種各別。』」行者道：「我才心中煩惱，欲將簡帖為證，上奏天庭，問你個通同作怪，搶奪人口之罪。據你所言，是那廝不遵教誨，我且饒你這次：一則是看你昆玉分上；二來只該怪那廝年幼無知，你也不甚知情。你快差人擒來，救我師父，再作區處。」敖順即喚太子摩昂：「快點五百蝦魚壯兵，將小鼉捉來問罪。」一壁廂安排酒席，與大聖陪禮。行者道：「龍王再勿多心，既講開饒了你便罷，又何須辦酒？我今須與你令郎同去：一則老師父遭愆，二則我師弟盼望。」行者闻言，笑道：「你妹妹有几个妹丈？」敖顺道：「只嫁得一个妹丈，乃泾河龙王。向年以此被斩，舍妹孀居于此，前年疾故了。」行者道：「一夫一妻，如何生此几个杂种？」敖顺道：「此正谓『龙生九种，九种各别。』」行者道：「我才心中烦恼，欲将简帖为证，上奏天庭，问你个通同作怪，抢夺人口之罪。据你所言，是那厮不遵教诲，我且饶你这次：一则是看你昆玉分上；二来只该怪那厮年幼无知，你也不甚知情。你快差人擒来，救我师父，再作区处。」敖顺即唤太子摩昂：「快点五百虾鱼壮兵，将小鼍捉来问罪。」一壁厢安排酒席，与大圣陪礼。行者道：「龙王再勿多心，既讲开饶了你便罢，又何须办酒？我今须与你令郎同去：一则老师父遭愆，二则我师弟盼望。」

'In a former year he was beheaded on this account, and my sister, widowed, dwelt here until she died of illness the year before last.'

Pilgrim said, 'One husband and one wife — how then did they beget such a brood of mongrels?'
敖順道：「此正謂『龍生九種，九種各別。』」

Ao Shun said, 'This is just what is meant by the saying, “A dragon breeds nine kinds, and the nine kinds each differ.”'
龍生九種 — a proverb; each of a dragon's nine offspring takes a different shape and nature.
行者道：「我才心中煩惱，欲將簡帖為證，上奏天庭，問你個通同作怪，搶奪人口之罪。

Pilgrim said, 'Just now I was so vexed that I meant to take this note as evidence, lay it before the Court of Heaven, and charge you with conniving at mischief and the seizing of persons.'
據你所言，是那廝不遵教誨，我且饒你這次：一則是看你昆玉分上；

'But by your account, it was that wretch who defied instruction, and so I will pardon you this once: for one thing, out of regard for your brotherly bond;'

敖順即喚太子摩昂：「快點五百蝦魚壯兵，將小鼉捉來問罪。」

Ao Shun at once summoned the prince Moang: 'Muster five hundred stout shrimp-and-fish soldiers and take the Little Alligator to answer for his crime.'

Meanwhile he made ready a wine-feast to do the Great Sage courtesy.
行者道：「龍王再勿多心，既講開饒了你便罷，又何須辦酒？

Pilgrim said, 'Dragon-King, trouble yourself no further; since it is talked out and you are pardoned, let it rest — what need of wine? I must go along with your son:'

'for one thing, my old master is in distress; for another, my brother-disciple is watching for us.'
總評 Commentary
Pilgrim presses the case with the letter as proof, then relents — pardoning the Dragon-King for his brother's sake and the culprit's youth — and Ao Shun dispatches Prince Moang with five hundred troops. Pilgrim waves off the peace-offering feast: his master is in peril and cannot wait.
