叫門索師 He Calls at the Gate for His Master

The Great Sage could not look his fill. He strode up to the gate and called out in a ringing voice: “You little demons there — go in quickly and tell your cave lord that I am Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, disciple of the holy monk of the house of Tang.”

觀看不盡 — he cannot exhaust the looking. 盡 is jìn by the build tables, which raises the tone class of the graph after 不, so 不 is registered as an override and reads bú against the mechanical bù. 拽開步 is again zhuài. Both 那 are deictic nà. 唐朝 takes 朝 as cháo.

Both 教 are the causative jiào. The demand is put as a favour to the demons, which is how Wukong opens every negotiation and why none of them ever go well.

總評 Commentary

Two segments, and the whole challenge. He gives his full style, states the demand, and attaches the threat as an afterthought.

The chapter has now put him at the door of a cave whose master has spent a passage preparing for him. Both sides know who the other is, which is unusual and makes the fight that follows a meeting rather than an ambush.
